More Stumbleupon: The Story of Bottled Water

And the verdict on bottled water vs. tapwater is??? Drumroll please.....

Ta da! Tap water! Less expensive and more sustainable as well.

Tap water is cleaner, tastes better and is not a product of commercialism and industry. Bottled water on the other hand, is. In the 1970's soda and related industries were concerned about their revenue leveling off. So, they had to come up with another product to sell, and people could only drink so much soda. Scaring people about tap water and that bottled water was purer, and tasted better, the companies "manufactured demand" for the new product. Bottled water companies are constantly selling us lies about the location of where their water is extracted from and how good it is. Where does most of the water from bottled water come from anyway? The tap! Thats right. The tap. And you are paying 2,000 x more for regular tap water if you buy bottled water than you would be if you just getting it from your kitchen sink. Not to mention bottled water isn't FDA regulated......

Take this into consideration:

1 million cars could be fueled by the amount of gasoline used to make plastic water bottles each year

Not including the gas it takes to transport it.

And to transport the bottles again when they go to the landfill, or to be "recycled" (this could mean that it is being shipped overseas instead, depending on where you live).

So next time you reach for the water bottle. Think twice. Take a reusable one instead.
